When I First Met Zen
My family started spending Summer vacations on Cape Cod when I was 5-years old. I have countless, treasured memories of the famous annual road-trip from New Jersey to Cape Cod in our wood-paneled station wagon. Upon arriving, I was determined to earn the title of being the first one to run to the flour-like, soft, sand beach and touch the ocean. It was at that moment, I was home ~ the most precious, special, Spiritual place on Earth.
I was obsessed, and still am, in hunting for seashells ~ collecting them, displaying them everywhere possible and eventually creating jewelry with them.
My mom bought me a roll of stretchy gold string that I used to make my first piece of jewelry ~ a jingle shell necklace ~ which I still possess today.
My first childhood friend and I set-up a picnic table along the pathway to the beach. We sold seashell jewelry and painted clam shells. The seed was planted.
These are the times to remember for sure. Summer friends, seeing each other Summer after Summer, that became family. We remain friends today. A bond that lasts forever. Our Summer home we rented each year was the same... Cottage 30. It's where I connected with Spirit. It is where my heart oozes love. It is the best way to describe the amount of passion I put into each piece of jewelry... Cottage 30.
